Good to know
Fabric choice/yardage
Fabric length: with 60inches wide fabrics, you will need 0.6 yard. With 44inches fabrics you will need 1.20 yard. Regarding the lining, with 60inches fabrics, you will need 0.54 inches and with 44inches fabrics, you will need 1.09 yard.
Fabric choice: thick fabrics such as brocade, houndstooth, tightly-woven tweed or wool fabrics. Regarding linings, use a lining fabric or any thin and silky fabric. You may omit the lining if your skirt fabric is smooth inside, with no loose threads or texture that could scratch your skin or catch your tights. Personally I prefer a lining for comfort and to avoid the skirt riding up when moving or walking.
You will need
Matching thread for your fabric, scissors, pins, a marking pen, a machine needle that fits your fabric type, an invisible zipper about 20cm (8 inches).
Make sure to wash and let your fabric dry in the same conditions and temperature you will use for your future garment, to ensure it won’t shrink too much afterwards. Then iron your fabric and fold it in half lengthwise to cut the pattern pieces.
