The Vega dress is bound to be your date to every wedding this season. Try choosing a classic crêpe material, whipping up this pattern and pairing it with your cutest heels—you’ll be the chicest guest on the docket. And if it’s your own special day, make the Vega in white and wear it for your civil ceremony! That’s the thing about Vega: she’s a sure bet for weddings—guest or bride, workdays in summer, cocktail parties under the setting sun, or daytime jaunts all summer long.

Tailored at the chest, flowy around the west and hips, the Vega dress suits all body types. Dance, twirl, and jump into the conga line at that wedding reception, and never for a second feel restrained. Being beautiful means feeling good, and Vega is the feel-good robe your wardrobe requires.

Description

Fabric choice

Medium to heavy crepe (silk, polyester, viscose…) cotton and cotton blends. I would advise to choose a fabric that doesn’t crease too easily as it will show quite a lot on this type of skirt. Crease the fabric in your hand and let go. See if the creases are staying or not.

Notions

1.09 yard (1 meter) of interfacing – estimate for a 1 yard (90cm) wide interfacing fabric – for facings. A 10’’ (25cm) zipper (except if you want to omit it), matching thread for your fabric, a machine needle matching your fabric type, a marking pen, scissors and pins.

Sewing level

Confident beginner (2/5): if you already made one or more garments on your own, know how to read a pattern, what a facing is and how to sew an invisible zipper, this dress will be fairly easy to make. A step-by-step video tutorial (see below) is also available.

You can find your French Poetry size based on your measurements or ready-to-wear size (US, EU, UK, AU, international) using the Size guide. This dress has lots of design ease at waist and hips, but this ease is needed; if in between several sizes, you can trace a line from one size to another.
