Etoile dress

9.17

The video tutorial is now available (scroll down to watch it)

The Etoile dress is a flirty little number you can flounce around in all summer long. Think “date night:” a deep V-neck that shows just the right amount of cleavage, darts in front and back to highlight your silhouette, and those cutesy details—a row of front buttons and gathered short sleeves tied off with a fabric bow.

Available sizes: 2 to 16

Fabric choice, notions, measurements: see below.

Fabric choice/yardage

Soft and flowy fabrics: silk crepe, viscose, polyester crepe, linen… With 60inches wide fabrics, you will need 3 meters for larger sizes (10 to 16, see cutting instructions). For smaller sizes 2.5 meters can be enough. With 44inches fabrics: same applies. If necessary you can reduce the fabric length needed by cutting the sleeve ties in the straight of grain.

You will need

Interfacing in the right weight for your fabric, matching thread for your fabric, scissors, pins, a marking pen, a machine needle that fits your fabric type, buttons (the pattern calls for 9 12mm buttons but don’t hesitate to play on the number, position and width of buttons). You will also need some strips of interfacing or organza to stabilize seams that are on the bias, to prevent any stretching of the neckline.
